Jury gets Nektar's $1B drug-development fight with Eli Lilly

Nektar told jurors Eli Lilly deliberately stalled development of autoimmune drug Rezpeg to protect a competing drug it owned outright, while Lilly said Rezpeg's side effects and disappointing results drove legitimate development decisions.

A federal jury began deliberating Thursday over whether Eli Lilly & Co. deliberately sidelined a promising autoimmune drug to protect a competing treatment it owned outright, or simply made reasonable business decisions about a drug whose prospects had dimmed.

Before sending the case to jurors, U.S. District Judge James Donato offered Nektar Therapeutics' attorneys one last rejection.
