Sony and Warner's music publishing arms sued Anthropic on Friday, accusing the artificial intelligence company of pirating thousands of copyrighted song lyrics to train its Claude large language models.

The lawsuit alleges Anthropic downloaded millions of works from the pirate libraries LibGen and PiLiMi as it raced to develop Claude before competitors could capture the market.
