Berkeley law professor files injunction to compel ICE to release data documents
An injunction filed Thursday calls for the court to compel the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to produce a set of excel spreadsheets, claiming that the plaintiff, a UC Berkeley law professor and the public will face irreparable harm if the documents are further delayed.
A UC Berkeley law professor filed a motion for a preliminary injunction to require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to promptly produce a series of Excel spreadsheets containing immigration enforcement data.
David K. Hausman, co-director of the Deportation Data Project, which collects and analyzes immigration enforcement data, alleges that ICE routinely fails to comply with the Freedom of Information Act's deadlines for producing the spreadsheets.
