Removed class counsel implies judge took kickback in LA water bill case

San Fernando Valley attorney Michael J. Libman was liaison counsel to the ratepayer class until it emerged the lawsuit he filed against the city was drafted by private city lawyers.

In an explosive virtual deposition Friday, a removed class counsel in the Los Angeles water billing suit implied the judge received kickbacks from a $67 million settlement under investigation for possible fraud.

The judge said he would not dignify the statement with a reply.
