City’s suit over hotels for homeless Covid-19 patients dropped after assurances received
More lawsuits over the state and counties using private hotels for homeless housing during the pandemic may stop after one judge ruled in favor of the action and another lawsuit against Orange County was dismissed outright.
Following a Los Angeles judge's ruling allowing the county to convert hotels into housing for homeless Covid-19 patients, the city of Laguna Hills dropped its lawsuit against Orange County over a similar measure but questions about government emergency powers remain.
The Laguna Hills lawsuit alleged the hotel homeless shelter created a public nuisance and was done without consultation with city officials.
