Brian S. Currey

Hon. Brian S. Currey (Ret.) has more than four decades of legal and judicial experience. A former presiding justice of the California Court of Appeal and Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, he received the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Outstanding Jurist Award in 2024. Before serving on the bench, Justice Currey spent nearly three decades in private practice litigating high-profile cases involving business, environmental law, antitrust, and product liability. He participated in landmark cases including the Exxon Valdez criminal case, the Vioxx products liability litigation, and the Cantara Loop train derailment and toxic chemical spill. He was also appointed Counsel to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and served as Deputy Mayor for Economic and Business Policy. A longtime board member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL) and LACBA Litigation Section Executive Committee member, he is well known in the litigation community.
