LOS ANGELES — U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sheri Bluebond was presiding over thousands of bankruptcy pleadings from the fallout of the great recession about a decade ago.
The bankruptcy court in Riverside County was short on judges at the time, so Bluebond lent a hand and often heard matters via video feeds from struggling homeowners an hour away from her chambers in Los Angeles.
