People who pass through Department 58 of the downtown Los Angeles Superior Court sometimes wonder why a somewhat outsized statue of Lady Justice is displayed so prominently next to a wall of leather-bound casebooks.
The brass figure, blindfolded and carrying scales and a sword, belongs to Rolf M. Treu. It was a gift from his wife.
