Superior Court Judge Barbara A. Meiers recently tried to calculate something she had apparently never thought much about before after reaching 45 years on the bench: how many cases had passed through her hands.
She arrived somewhere around 20,000.
"I was kind of surprised myself," Meiers said. "It hasn't sunk in, the number, until just now."
