It was standing room only in Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Victoria I. Shanahan's Department B at the Ukiah courthouse.

On a Wednesday in late March there were 105 cases jamming her docket -- a fast-moving parade of felony and misdemeanor in-custody video arraignments plus in-person status conferences, sentencings, preliminary hearings and continuances.
