The Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic celebrated its 17th anniversary Saturday with a Walt Disney Concert Hall performance marking America's 250th birthday.
Led by founder-conductor Gary S. Greene, the orchestra, chorus Legal Voices and Gary Greene, Esq. & His Big Band of Barristers presented a program tracing American history through music, from Dvořák's "New World Symphony" to Copland's "Hoe-Down," Glenn Miller's "In the Mood," selections from "Star Wars" and "Hamilton."
KFI radio host Bill Handel served as master of ceremonies. Tom Bergeron narrated Copland's "Lincoln Portrait," and Tony Award-winning actor and singer Michael Maguire performed selections from "Hamilton." Retired 2nd District Court of Appeal Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert also appeared as a soloist with the Big Band of Barristers.
The concert benefited the Beverly Hills Bar Foundation, the LA County Bar Association's Counsel for Justice and the Lawyers Philharmonic, with proceeds supporting legal services for people who cannot afford them, scholarships and future charitable performances.

Greene, a practicing attorney and longtime musician, founded the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic in 2009 to bring lawyers, judges, law students and legal staff together through music and public service. For more information, go to www.lalawyersphil.org.
