Edison cites unprecedented fire ignition theory in bid to delay trial

Southern California Edison says an unprecedented theory involving electrical induction from active lines requires more time to prepare its Eaton Fire defense. A judge deferred ruling on its request to delay trial.

An attorney for Southern California Edison argued Friday that the Eaton Fire litigation involves an unprecedented theory of how a wildfire can start, telling a Los Angeles judge that the utility needs more time to prepare its defense before the first trial.
