Judge adds $184M interest to Masimo's $634M patent verdict against Apple

U.S. District Judge James V. Selna has increased Masimo Corp.'s patent judgment against Apple Inc. to roughly $818.5 million, awarding nearly $184.2 million in prejudgment interest while rejecting both sides' preferred interest rates.

A federal judge on Monday added roughly $184 million in prejudgment interest to Masimo Corp.'s $634 million patent infringement judgment against Apple Inc., bringing the award to about $818.5 million before additional postjudgment interest.

U.S. District Judge James V. Selna granted Masimo's request for prejudgment and post-judgment interest but rejected the 7% California rate Masimo sought. Instead, Selna adopted Masimo's actual cost of debt, as calculated by Apple...
