GEO Group sues California over new immigration detention rules
Private detention operator GEO Group is challenging California's new Civil Detainees' Bill of Rights Act, arguing the state cannot impose its own standards and enforcement regime on facilities operating under federal ICE contracts.
The GEO Group Inc. sued California Attorney General Rob Bonta on Wednesday, seeking to block a new state law imposing standards for the treatment of people held in privately operated federal immigration detention facilities.
