Judge questions $100M deal to end TikTok privacy order
U.S. District Judge George H. Wu said the Justice Department has not shown why TikTok's ownership changes and a contingent $100 million payment justify ending court oversight imposed after alleged child-privacy violations.
A federal judge on Monday pressed the Justice Department to explain why TikTok's ownership changes and a $100 million contingent payment justify lifting a 2019 child-privacy consent order, saying the government has not shown that continued court supervision is unnecessary.
