When is it 'too old' to drive?

Age alone is not enough to take away an elderly driver's license, but California has safeguards to determine when someone should be reexamined--or not driving at all.

Earlier this month, an elderly driver crashed into a preschool building in Glendale. Police determined that the 78-year-old driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal as she attempted to make a U-turn. Back in February, a 92-year-old driver made the same mistake and crashed into the 99 Ranch Market in Westwood. Three people were killed.
