Judge demands FBI informant appear in court over recanted testimony

Judge David O. Carter declined to strike statements by former FBI informant Craig Monteilh, saying the Supreme Court ordered a fuller investigation into his recantations and that Monteilh must appear under oath.

A federal judge overseeing the long-running challenge to FBI surveillance of Southern California Muslims declined Monday to strike declarations from the bureau's former informant, saying he wanted the man in court before deciding what to believe about his dramatic recantations.
