Palisades Fire defendant pleads not guilty to revised federal charges

Jonathan Rinderknecht pleaded not guilty to a revised two-count federal indictment accusing him of causing the Lachman and Palisades fires after his first.

The alleged Palisades Fire arsonist pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a new indictment that accuses him of causing both the Lachman and Palisades fires in January 2025, months after his first federal trial ended in a mistrial with jurors deadlocked 10-2 in favor of acquittal.

The defendant, Jonathan Rinderknecht, was arraigned before U.S. District Judge Anne Hwang in Los Angeles on the two-count first superseding indictment, filed Aug. 13.
