9th Circuit ruling casts new doubt on Essayli's authority

A 9th Circuit ruling restricting Trump administration appointee Sigal Chattah's authority in Nevada has renewed questions about Bilal Essayli's authority to lead the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bilal A. Essayli's authority to lead his Los Angeles-based office is in question again in the wake of a ruling by a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel barring Sigal Chattah, the Trump administration's choice to lead the Nevada U.S. attorney's office, from supervising the prosecution of three cases.
