9th Circuit appoints Cara Masako Porter as bankruptcy judge

Judge Cara Masako Porter has a background in tax, government litigation and bankruptcy law.

Cara Masako Porter has joined the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals appointed Porter to a 14-year term that began Aug. 13. Chief Bankruptcy Judge Stephen L. Johnson administered the oath, and Porter will keep chambers in Oakland.
