Strength coach sues NCAA over cap on football staff

A college strength and conditioning coach alleges the NCAA's limit on the number of strength coaches Football Bowl Subdivision schools may employ unlawfully suppresses jobs and restricts competition in the labor market.

A college football strength coach sued the NCAA in federal court Friday alleging its cap on the number of strength and conditioning coaches member schools may employ violates antitrust law.

The NCAA limits each team in the Football Bowl Subdivision -- its top football division -- to five strength and conditioning coaches. But according to the plaintiff -- represented by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP -- that constitutes an artificial restriction of the labor market.
