Sterling seeks to overturn $2.8M tenant harassment verdict

Shelly Sterling is asking a federal judge to throw out a $2.8 million jury verdict in favor of a tenant who accused an apartment manager of sexual harassment, arguing the jury was improperly instructed on when landlords can be held liable for an employee's misconduct.

Rochelle "Shelly" Sterling, the longtime Los Angeles real estate executive whose family formerly owned the Los Angeles Clippers, has intensified her effort to overturn a $2.8 million jury verdict in favor of a tenant who accused one of her apartment managers of sexual harassment, arguing in a new filing that the verdict rests on a legally flawed theory of landlord liability.
