Judge signals Anthropic likely to prevail in First Amendment fight with Pentagon
U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin strongly suggested the Trump administration's decision to label Anthropic a national security supply chain risk because of the AI company's opposition to military uses of its technology likely violated the First Amendment, signaling she may grant summary judgment in the company's favor.
A federal judge indicated Thursday she was deeply skeptical that the Trump administration did not violate the First Amendment when it labeled Anthropic PBC a national security supply chain risk over its refusal to allow the government to use its AI models for lethal autonomous warfare or mass surveillance.
