LinkedIn wins partial dismissal in health data privacy suits

A federal judge found that allegations that the platform collected medication and dosage information were sufficient to support an intrusion upon seclusion claim.

A federal judge ruled that LinkedIn's alleged collection of sensitive medical data to sell targeted ads meets the "highly offensive" standard for a privacy tort class action to move forward, although he dismissed a separate California Invasion of Privacy Act lawsuit over nearly identical allegations.
