Lathrop GPM to combine with Silicon Valley IP boutique

Lathrop GPM will combine with San Jose-based HG Law on Jan. 1, adding 27 attorneys and expanding its engineering-focused patent practice while establishing offices in New York and London.

Lathrop GPM unveiled plans Tuesday to combine with Silicon Valley patent boutique HG Law on Jan. 1, bolstering its engineering-focused patent practice and expanding into two coveted markets -- New York and London.

The combination brings 27 attorneys and 23 patent agents and technical advisers from San Jose-based HG Law, increasing Lathrop GPM's lawyer headcount by about 7.5% to 370 and boosting combined annual revenue to roughly $300 million. The deal also strengthens the firm...
