Settlement overlap dispute heads toward mediation
Attorneys told a Los Angeles judge they have tentatively agreed to pursue mediation over disputed abuse settlement overlaps, delaying a ruling on whether discovery into the county's handling of 28 claimants should proceed.
A dispute over whether Los Angeles County must open discovery into alleged overlapping childhood sexual abuse claims tied to its landmark $4 billion and separate $828 million settlements may instead head to mediation after attorneys told a Los Angeles judge Monday they had reached a tentative agreement to pursue a resolution on the issue outside the courtroom.
