New law lets prosecutors combine sex crime cases across county lines
Supporters say the measure will spare victims from repeated testimony, while legislative analysts note potential due process concerns.
A newly signed law will allow prosecutors to combine certain sex crime cases that occur in multiple counties into a single trial. The goal of AB 2147 is to reduce delays and spare victims from being forced to repeatedly deliver the same testimony about traumatic events.
