Legislature approves bill to avert Uber-attorney ballot fight
SB 623 passed unanimously hours before a deadline to pull competing initiatives from the November ballot.

The California Legislature has unanimously passed a bill to head off an expensive ballot box battle between rideshare companies and plaintiffs' attorneys. But not before the bill's co-author took a little dig at a traditional Democratic ally.
