The Yolo County Board of Supervisors appointed Melinda Aiello as district attorney Tuesday, choosing the office's acting leader to serve the remainder of a term that runs through Jan. 8, 2029.
The appointment fills the vacancy created by District Attorney Jeff Reisig's May 15 retirement. Under California law, the board is required to appoint a successor to complete the term.
