Yolo supervisors appoint district attorney

Acting District Attorney Melinda Aiello, a nearly 30-year prosecutor and longtime Yolo County deputy, was selected by the Board of Supervisors to complete the term left vacant by Jeff Reisig's retirement.

The Yolo County Board of Supervisors appointed Melinda Aiello as district attorney Tuesday, choosing the office's acting leader to serve the remainder of a term that runs through Jan. 8, 2029.

The appointment fills the vacancy created by District Attorney Jeff Reisig's May 15 retirement. Under California law, the board is required to appoint a successor to complete the term.
