YouTube settles before second social media addiction bellwether trial

YouTube reached a confidential settlement with the plaintiff in the next social media addiction bellwether trial, leaving Meta, Snap and ByteDance to face claims scheduled for July.

Attorneys representing the second bellwether plaintiff scheduled to go to trial in the social media addiction cases announced Tuesday that they reached a confidential settlement with YouTube, removing the platform from the case that was scheduled to begin July 27 in Los Angeles.

The plaintiff, a minor identified as R.K.C., will continue pursuing claims against Meta, Snap Inc. and ByteDance.
