California Supreme Court grants petition for review in Sonoma State University suit

The California Supreme Court is set to review a denied appeal in a lawsuit filed by student-athletes against Sonoma State University over the dissolution of academic programs, departments and the NCAA athletic program.

The California Supreme Court has agreed to review a procedural dispute arising from a lawsuit challenging Sonoma State University's elimination of dozens of academic programs and its NCAA Division II athletics program, setting the stage for a ruling that could clarify when litigants may immediately appeal trial court orders.
