Carson residents push for new bellwether trial in warehouse fire litigation

The proposal comes after a jury awarded 24 bellwether plaintiffs $8.8 million in February, a verdict now under attack through post-trial motions. Defendants argue it is premature to schedule another trial while those motions remain unresolved and administrative issues continue to be addressed.

Thousands of Carson-area residents pursuing claims arising from a 2021 warehouse fire and ensuing odor crisis are urging a Los Angeles judge to schedule the next bellwether trial alongside Los Angeles County's separate lawsuit against warehouse owner Prologis Inc. and several tenant businesses.
