OpenAI defeats xAI trade secrets case over recruiting presentation

A federal judge dismissed xAI's trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI with prejudice, ruling that allegations stemming from OpenAI's recruitment of a former xAI engineer failed to plausibly show trade secret misappropriation.

A month after Elon Musk lost a high-profile lawsuit against OpenAI, his company, xAI, suffered its own defeat against the ChatGPT maker.

U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin dismissed xAI's trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI with prejudice Monday, finding that xAI failed to sufficiently plead that OpenAI misappropriated proprietary information and failed to cure deficiencies identified in an earlier version of the complaint.
