UGG owner tells jury Quince copied patented boot design

Deckers Outdoor says Quince infringed a patented UGG boot design, while the online retailer argues the patent is too broad and should never have been granted.

Seconds into his opening statement, Brent H. Blakely of Blakely Law Group, representing UGG parent company Deckers Outdoor Corporation, told the jury he wanted them to know he wasn't asking them to stuff his client's wallet.

"Before I tell you what this case is about, I'll tell you what it's not about," Blakely told the seven members of the jury. "Money."
