Early returns in the Los Angeles city attorney race showed incumbent Hydee Feldstein Soto trailing challengers Marissa Roy and John McKinney on Wednesday, positioning the two challengers for a November runoff and leaving the first-term city attorney on the verge of defeat.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Roy had captured 37.37% of the vote, McKinney 32.83% and Soto 19.53%. Attorney and human rights advocate Aida Ashouri trailed with 10.27%.
