Rather than automatically elevating the acting district attorney, Yolo County supervisors opted for a public recruitment process after longtime District Attorney Jeff Reisig retired suddenly in May.

Yolo County supervisors chose to publicly recruit candidates to replace District Attorney Jeff Reisig rather than simply appoint Acting District Attorney Melinda Aiello, following Reisig's announcement on May 5 that he would retire effective May 15.

Last Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors approved a recruitment process to fill the remainder of Reisig's term through Jan. 8, 2029. Applications will be accepted for two weeks. Candidates must be registered voters in Yolo County...
