A federal judge signaled Oakland police oversight could end this fall after monitors found the department compliant with all 51 mandates imposed following a landmark police misconduct settlement.

After 23 years, the federal monitorship of Oakland's police department could be coming to an end.

At a hearing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick told the parties he hopes to remove the federal monitor in September, plaintiffs' attorney John L. Burris confirmed.
