California air regulators have asked a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit against the state's clean-car rules, arguing the Trump administration waited too long and failed to show any current harm.

Deputy Attorney General Caitlan McLoon's motion to dismiss, filed Tuesday, dismiss began by noting California enacted "the Advanced Clean Cars I standards in 2012," and has enforced them, with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency waiver, for nine years.
