The California Senate confirmed George Cardona for a second term as the State Bar's chief trial counsel, endorsing reforms enacted after the Tom Girardi scandal that strengthened oversight of attorneys and client trust accounts.

George Cardona's reappointment to a second four-year term as chief trial counsel for the State Bar of California signals continued legislative support for reforms enacted in the wake of the Tom Girardi scandal.

The California Senate confirmed Cardona on Tuesday, making him the first chief trial counsel in more than a decade to receive Senate confirmation twice. He was first confirmed in 2022 after taking office in October 2021.
