SoCalGas seeks dismissal of Edison claims in Eaton Fire cases

SoCalGas argues California law bars any duty to shut off gas service during wildfires as it seeks dismissal of Southern California Edison's cross-claims in Eaton Fire litigation.

In a bid to throw out Southern California Edison's cross-complaint in the coordinated Eaton Fire litigation, SoCalGas argues the electric utility is attempting to improperly shift liability onto the gas company despite California law foreclosing any duty to shut off gas to prevent wildfire spread.

The demurrer, which finished briefing on Friday, is one of several filed by cross-defendants - including Los Angeles County and the city of Pasadena - and is set to be heard separate...
