3rd District Justice Elena Duarte to retire after 15 years
Justice Elena J. Duarte will retire at the end of May after 15 years on the appellate bench and a judicial career spanning nearly two decades.
California Court of Appeal Associate Justice Elena J. Duarte will retire from the 3rd District at the end of May, concluding 15 years on the appellate bench and more than 19 years of judicial service.
Duarte, the 3rd District's only single-division bench member during her tenure and its longest-serving Latina justice, was appointed to the Court of Appeal in December 2010 by Gov. Schwarzenegger.
