Fee dispute erupts among plaintiffs' firms in Sutter Health antitrust case
A dispute over a $75.4 million fee award in the Sutter Health antitrust settlement pits plaintiffs' firms against each other, with allegations of improper allocation and judicial skepticism emerging.
A dispute over a $75.4 million fee award has emerged between plaintiffs' co-counsel in a settled $228.5 million antitrust litigation against Sutter Health, with one firm accusing the lead firm of diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars to itself.
U.S. District Judge Laurel Beeler approved the fees in November 2025 as part of the class action settlement with Sutter Health over claims it used its market power to drive up hospital prices.
