Privacy claims target nationwide access to California surveillance network

A federal lawsuit alleges Flock Safety violated California privacy law by allowing out-of-state and federal agencies to access license plate data collected by local law enforcement systems.

Flock Safety's rapid rise since its 2017 founding has seen its license plate readers placed in thousands of cities across the nation, but a lawsuit moved to federal court on Wednesday alleges the company violated California privacy laws in the process.
