GSA rejects judiciary bid for control of courthouse facilities

Agency tells court leaders that courthouse maintenance problems stem from limited congressional funding, not management.

The U.S. General Services Administration has rejected the federal judiciary's request for independent control over courthouse facilities, telling court leaders that the main obstacle to maintaining federal courthouses is insufficient congressional funding, not a lack of judicial expertise, and warning that shifting authority could burden taxpayers.
