Federal judge bars Perplexity's AI shopping agents from Amazon site

A federal judge granted Amazon a preliminary injunction blocking Perplexity's Comet AI agents from accessing Amazon systems and ordered the startup to destroy any data obtained from the site.

A federal judge preliminarily enjoined Perplexity AI Inc. on Monday from accessing or trying to access Amazon.com's computer systems using AI agents and ordered the San Francisco startup to destroy all data obtained from Amazon, including by third-party service providers.

Perplexity denied that its Comet AI agents have hacked any of Amazon's systems.
