Attorney sentenced for billion-dollar solar fraud

Prosecutors say Ari J. Lauer helped legitimize a billion-dollar scheme involving mobile solar generators.

An attorney who prosecutors say played a key role in the biggest fraud scheme in the history of California's Eastern District has been sentenced to nearly a dozen years behind bars.

U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd sentenced Ari J. Lauer, 61, to 11 years and five months in federal prison for participating in the massive DC Solar fraud scheme, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced Monday.
