Judge dismisses securities class action over Edison wildfire statements

A federal judge ruled Edison's statements about its wildfire prevention program were too general to be proven false, dismissing a securities suit tied to the 2025 Eaton and Sylmar fires.

U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright II has dismissed a putative securities class action against Edison International and its top executives, ruling that the company's optimistic portrayals of its Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program did not constitute verifiably false or misleading statements to shareholders prior to the destructive 2025 Eaton and Sylmar fires.
