Clerks' strike shuts courtrooms, disrupts San Francisco proceedings
A clerks' strike in San Francisco Superior Court forced trial postponements, canceled hearings and crowded remaining courtrooms, as attorneys navigated confusion, remote proceedings and mounting case backlogs.
Trials were postponed and hearings were cancelled due a clerks' strike Thursday against the San Francisco Superior Court, resulting in crowded conditions at the remaining open courtrooms, and many proceedings being handled remotely, attorneys said.
In announcements Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning, the court said operations would be cut back, but some attorneys said they hadn't heard about closures until they arrived.
