PacifiCorp agreed to pay $575 million to settle federal claims that its equipment ignited two California and four Oregon wildfires, resolving allegations over 290,000 burned acres while denying liability and avoiding prolonged litigation.
PacifiCorp has agreed to a landmark $575 million settlement with the United States to resolve claims arising from six catastrophic wildfires that decimated federal lands in California and Oregon in 2020 and 2022, the Department of Justice announced Friday.
