Ahead of closing arguments Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer denied Uber's motion for a mistrial in the first bellwether case of the massive multidistrict litigation surrounding allegations that Uber drivers sexually assaulted passengers.

After the jury retired for the day, Breyer responded to a question about whether he had seen the motion, which was filed Monday morning by Kirkland & Ellis partner Laura Vartain Horn, with a quick, "Yes, denied." ...
